FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
At Collywobbles Highland, we are committed to providing our community with answers to all of their queries and requests. Should you have any other questions that we may have missed please feel free to contact us by email or contact form.
WHAT IF MY CHILD WON'T JOIN IN?
We completely understand that it can be an anxiety provoking situation to start something new and talk to someone new.
At Collywobbles Highland we will work with you and your child to encourage independence to reach goals. We work in a positive and gentle way by praising children for being brave and independent.
HOW CAN PARENTS SUPPORT THEIR CHILDREN THROUGH THIS JOURNEY?
The research tells us that parental involvement increases the chances of positive outcomes. After all, as parents you know your child best and spend the most time with them. Therefore, supporting you to be a 'therapist at home' is a very effective way of helping you to help your child.
At Collywobbles Highland we will work with you to support your child to develop coping strategies and feel empowered to manage their distress.
HOW DO I ACCESS YOUR SUPPORT?
Email us at Collywobbles Highland or submit an enquiry to discuss suitability and your requirements. We will have a quick phone chat in the first instance and then you can decide how you wish to proceed.
WILL THIS 'CURE' MY CHILD'S PROBLEMS?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a guarantee that your child will be 'cured' after an intervention at Collywobbles Highland.
Our service does however offer a variety of interventions to support children to develop coping skills and find new ways of thinking about their difficulties. If problems persist, following our intervention, we can signpost you to appropriate services.
WILL EVERYONE KNOW MY CHILD IS ATTENDING?
At Collywobbles Highland we work hard to reduce any stigma that may come from attending our service. We all have wobbles after all!
We do not focus on blame or guilt about the cause of anxiety -Parents spend enough time feeling guilty in our modern day lives! Instead, we focus on how we can support you and your child to move forwards in a positive way.
All of the information that we collect will be kept confidential. There is no reason to inform anyone, if you don't want us to, unless there is a child protection concern.
HOW DO I KNOW THAT COLLYWOBBLES HIGHLAND IS THE RIGHT PROGRAMME FOR MY CHILD?
At Collywobbles Highland we believe strongly that all children will benefit from our services. We focus on children developing 'a coping skills tool box' to help them when they feel wobbly.
After all, we all get wobbles at some point in our life! We believe that early intervention and prevention, using an evidence based approach, can support children from developing more complex mental health difficulties in later life.
